Quadratic RELATIONS
Reflection:
During this quadratics unit, with my three unit tests, I achieved an overall mark of 84%. The topic of quadratics is broken up into three categories: vertex form, factored form, and standard form. During the process of learning vertex form, the concepts progressed from simple to complex. From learning finite differences all they way to word problems in vertex form, I found that my results went in a different direction for me. I scored above 80% on the knowledge questions on my quizzes, but achieved a 65% on my unit test. I practiced many knowledge based questions, however, when it came to word problems, I did not feel confident with my understanding in this particular section. When it came to the unit on factored form, I was able to understand the concepts easily because factoring from standard form to factored form was not that complicated due to completing many practice questions, and seeking clarification from my teacher. As a result, in the factored form unit, I improved drastically from a 65% on vertex form unit test to an 87% on my factored form unit test. As quadratics continued on, the concepts got more complicated. However, practicing questions and completing my homework made it seem much easier because I was familiar with the concepts. In the unit of standard form, the concepts were short and understandable. Due to completing all of the homework given, on the standard form unit test I recieved a 100% overall. Quadratics has helped me believe that I can still succeed even though I faced many challenges understanding concepts. This unit will help me in the future by applying my knowledge, when I see parabolas in real life or when I work in a work field where quadratic take a role. In conclusion, the unit of Quadratics was an okay unit to learn. I know that it was a new concept that we had not learned before but, I still managed to be successful in this unit.
